Using the same system as the highly popular Crusades, Crusades II covers a variety of battles from the 12th through the 15th centuries, and features such divers leaders as Saladin the Kurd, King Guy of Acre, il-Ghazi Emir of Mardin, King Sigismund of Hungary, the Emir Beayezid, King Wadyslaw of Poland, Master of the Teutonic Knights Ulrich von Jungingen, and Grand Duke Witold of Lithuania.

Each battle is a complete game in itself: Hab, 19 August 1119; Hattin, 3-4 July 1187; Nicopolis, 25 September 1396; and Tannenberg, 15 July 1410.
